About This Spot

Stepping into Pizza Ed, nestled at the edge of Hartselle’s Main Street, feels like slipping into a familiar neighborhood spot where time moves at a comfortable, easygoing pace. The retro tunes playing softly in the background set a relaxed tone, inviting you to unwind and stay awhile. The rectangular, somewhat narrow layout creates an intimate vibe, filled with the quiet hum of conversation and the occasional burst of laughter, making it the kind of place where you can settle in with friends or family without rush or distraction.

It’s clear from the moment you arrive that this isn’t just about grabbing a quick bite—it’s about sharing moments over thoughtfully crafted food served with genuine hospitality. The friendly, attentive service complements the casual atmosphere, striking a balance that keeps things moving smoothly even on a busy night. This is a space where you can feel the care behind every dish without it ever feeling formal or forced.

What makes Pizza Ed stand apart isn’t just the comforting mix of classic and inventive pizzas but how those flavors feel like an invitation to explore. Whether you’re drawn to the deep, hearty richness of a Chicago-style deep dish packed with spicy meats and mushrooms, or tempted by something lighter like their fresh Greek salad bursting with crisp vegetables and vibrant dressing, each bite offers a small discovery of texture, balance, and generosity. The menu effortlessly blends familiar favorites with creative twists—think a chicken alfredo pizza dotted with spinach and feta or a jalapeño Hawaiian that surprises the palate in the best possible way.

The casual environment pairs beautifully with unexpected little indulgences like fried cheese or sweet potato fries drizzled in caramel sauce, allowing guests to savor both comfort and novelty. It’s the kind of place where details matter—the sourdough crust with its developed flavor and the plum tomato sauce that carries a subtle brightness—as if every ingredient was chosen not just to satisfy hunger but to add to the experience of connection and ease.

Parking might require a gentle bit of patience on busy evenings, but that only adds to the sense you’ve found a hidden gem worth the effort. Pizza Ed is the kind of local haunt where regulars feel at home and newcomers quickly understand why. It’s in those warm, unhurried moments around the table—sharing a slice, a salad, or even a breadstick—that the restaurant’s charm truly unfolds, reminding us that great pizza is as much about the setting and company as it is about the ingredients.

8/7/25 still just as delicious! It was insane busy tonight but they did their best to keep up with the tables and ensure everything was good. The pizza was spot on! We had an excellent experience tonight. Low key Monday night dinner. I absolutely love the Greek salad here. The greens and veggies are always super fresh. I'll be trying the build-your-own salad next time as well. The pepperoni pizza and cheese bread is by far the best in North Alabama!

Food was good. We had the fried ravioli (forgot to get a pick) it was YUMMY! We also ordered the fried pickles and the New York style deep dish stuffed pizza the chubby? (ital.sausage, bacon, pepperoni and meatballs) and it was good. Tons of yummy cheese in both the pizza and ravioli. The food is what received my rating. The cost with 2 teas right at $47 + tip. We left $5 to be nice but the service was extremely lacking unfortunately. But we will go again sometime.

After a visit to show my parents the Cook Museum in Decatur, we made the drive over here to try some pizza. I saw an article about it on al.com a while ago and was eager to try it out. Located at the edge of Hartselle's Main Street, parking is limited to mostly street parking so it can be a tiny bit challenging, but we managed well enough. The restaurant is rectangular shaped and sort of "long," but has regular four-tops and booths. It took a minute for anyone to greet us but we were instructed to choose our own seats. Though they weren't super busy, many of the tables needed some attention/tidying. One waitress saw us eyeing a somewhat dirty booth and she offered to wipe it down for us, which we appreciated. Once we were seated the same waitress took care of us; she was attentive and our food came out in a timely manner. We got fried ravioli for an appetizer and then split an Alfredo pizza. I'm told this is one of the few places in Alabama (esp northern Alabama) where you can get more legit deep dish pizza, but they also offer Neapolitan/thinner crusts, which is what we ordered. A few other appetizers, salads, pastas, and sandwiches are also on the menu. Some of the pastas looked pretty good! There was also a very reasonable sort of "you pick two" deal going on for lunch. The fried ravioli came out very quickly. They were super crispy and hot and had the right amount of gooey cheese. I really enjoyed the slightly sweet, slightly salty red dipping sauce; it was understated but flavorful. As someone who usually is very lukewarm on marinara/tomato based pizza sauces, this was a good one and made me interested in trying a more traditional pizza in the future. As it was, our Alfredo pizza, which was delivered following a moderate lag time after our ravioli, was quite tasty. The crust was a good balance of chewy and crispy; the cheese was hot and bubbly; and the chicken topping was almost shaved into very thin pieces that were slightly crispy. I liked this because I think larger chicken pieces on pizza get gummy sometimes. This was a nice change. The Alfredo sauce was rich but not sickeningly so and complemented the cheese on top well. Quite solid pizza at a reasonable price. There's another location in Guntersville if I remember correctly. I'd recommend giving them a try. I'd return to try another pie or maybe be adventurous and try deep dish.

This is one our all time favorite pizza places! The sourdough crust has such developed flavor and the plum tomato sauce is light and flavorful. This place uses quality ingredients which makes the difference! We had the breadstcks, which were a dinner roll consistency and weren't my favorite. But the Greek salad and Greek dressing were incredible! Our supreme pizza was just the right thickness and topped with the perfect amount of ingredients. The roasted red peppers on the pizza were plentiful and delicious. We've had the awesome cheesecake for dessert before, but were too stuffed to order it this time because we opted for the salad! Next time though! Oh, and our server was on point! We went on a Tuesday night around 6:30 pm and they were packed! Only 2 servers and another lady helping deliver food to tables. But everyone was being served perfectly! I didn't see one person complaining or annoyed. It took us 4 or 5 minutes to get a seat when we entered because there were 2 dirty tables, but as soon as they were cleaned, we were seated and promptly waited on. If you want good pizza that's not a chain restaurant, this is the place to go!

When you order delivery they typically don’t put ice cream on the brownie so it won’t melt. Understandable, but I waddled my pregnant butt inside to ask them about it because I didn’t know that and once I saw the ice cream on the photo it was too late and I had to have it. As soon as I told them I was pregnant and wanted to eat it in the car they ran to make sure I was taken care of and even brought me a spoon for it! The rest of the meal was also incredible and fresh. Overall excellent service, delicious food, and a staff who really understands people and helps make them happy!
